"The Accidental Artist: How a Banking Career Led to a Brush with Destiny"

If there ever were an accidental artist, it would be Carol Mulvihill.

Carol, a fifth generation Inland Empire Girl, grew up loving all sports. She pursued an AA degree from San Bernardino Valley College, and went to work for Ticor. Within years she was an escrow officer and one of the first women promoted to the management training program.

After managing several offices, the bank sent her to graduate banking school at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, where she earned her degree.  She was subsequently promoted to regional manager over 27 branches.  In 1992 Union Bank offered her a position in the Big Bear branch, where she excelled taking the branch from a 3% market share to an 82% market share. After a fulfilling career, Carol decided to retire in December, 2015.

The next evening she and a group of friends went to a bar in Big Bear Lake to a paint and sip event and the rest is history. Carol has been painting ever since!

The bulk of her weekly training has been at the Desert Art Center in Palm Springs and her primary teacher has been the American Artist David Fairrington. At the request of Congressman and First Lady Obernolty, Carol’s work was featured at the 111th First Ladies Luncheon in Washington DC featuring speaker Dr. Jill Biden. Her work also hangs in perpetuity at the Big Bear Lake, City Hall, and Bear Valley Community Hospital boardroom.

Carol has Studios in both Rancho Mirage and Big Bear Lake, California where she paints and sells her work daily.
